Why Come Along to Change Happens
Change Happens is located in Sydney and offers a place for you to explore in a safe and supportive environment, issues relating to the challenges in your life. Having been in private practice for 25 years and over 30 years working with people on a wide range of issues and concerns, there’s not much I haven’t heard before.
Over the years, clients report they have been supported through painful and distressing times while feeling psychologically held and respectfully challenged. Using Existential Therapy as a framework, a philosophical way of exploring your life and experiences, I work from a holistic approach to meet each client individually and their unique view of being in the world.
Having personally gone through many transitional stages in my own life I know therapy has been instrumental in helping me gain greater insight and understanding of myself and how I want to live my life.
I enjoy working with people who are looking to explore meaning and change as I tailor my approach to meet your unique way of being in the world. I will engage with you at a level of understanding that is right for you. Together we will explore your concerns and work at a pace that suits you.
About Your Therapy
Initially, the first session will focus on gaining an understanding of the issues you bring along. You may not have spoken about it to others before, have read a few self-help books to help you understand your situation or perhaps you have discussed it at length but don’t seem to be getting anywhere.
Clients often report feeling lighter after the first session, some with new insights or have a clearer understanding of what they want to work on. Subsequent sessions will focus on developing your exploration and choices on what is important for you. Each session is 60 minutes duration for individuals and 90 minutes for couples. Once a couple has settled into a working phase, the session time may drop to 60 minutes.
Research indicates that attendance at sessions weekly will provide a stronger outcome. Coming along monthly or having long gaps between sessions is not advisable as each session will feel like a catch up on what has been happening rather than reviewing and working through your issue.
Since COVID-19 sessions have moved to a hybrid approach of face to face and/or online to meet geographical location limitations.
