Are you looking to join a group?
At Change Happens Group Therapy we offer:
- Process therapy groups for professionals
- Gay men’s intimacy and relationship groups
- Training in Group Work and Group Leadership
The aim of the group is to help you develop a stronger and more honest relationship with your ‘self’ and ultimately with others. Through the experience you will get in touch with your vulnerability, grow by exploring personal blocks to living a full life; get help to regain control of how you want to live your life. In participating in the group, you can gain confidence by using the group to experiment in new ways of relating and discover the opportunity to speak openly and honestly.
The power of group allows you the freedom to be courageous in taking the steps towards change for your life.
The group can offer you a place to
- Explore and experience how to relate differently, more intimately with yourself and with others
- Build confidence, face your fears, speak about long-held secrets and to possibly break the silence
- Find healing and care, where its okay to be vulnerable without judgement
- Experiment with new ideas and practice behaviours that you can apply to your life outside of group
- Give and receive feedback that allows you to gain clarity and understanding about your relationships
- Gain personal and professional insight and understanding
I specialise in group therapy and have been leading groups and training group leaders for over 20 years. Group therapy is an effective way of receiving valuable and often enlightening feedback on how people experience you. It can help you to discover blind spots to living a full and worthy life.
My passion for group therapy led me to undertake my Doctoral degree with Middlesex University, London. The research set out to inquire into the lived experience of group leaders’ and group psychotherapists understanding of the meaning of their presence as a critical component of group success.
Why consider joining a group?
The best way to know yourself is to participate in a group. Group therapy is one of the few places where you can explore with peers in a confidential environment issues without judgement. I offer short-term groups (12 sessions) occasionally and long-term therapy groups lasting from 1 to 5 years.
Participants have reported, being part of a group has provided a safe place to be open and honest with themselves and with others. They have found the feedback from the group members invaluable and life-changing. Wherever you find yourself in life, someone looking to develop a stronger sense of who you are, develop your professional self and know what you are about, what you believe in or find important for your life then, participating in a group can help.
I have witnessed the power of the group process in the years I have been leading therapy groups. Despite the fear of exposure to being vulnerable and the pain of facing difficult and often fearful moments of feeling alone, I have witnessed significant change in peoples’ lives as a result of being part of a therapy group. I believe I offer a place where participants in the groups I run, come to believe that change is possible. My own life changed as I took the journey of group therapy many years ago and I still believe in the group process as a unique and powerful source for change. My intention is to provide a group that will help you to embrace those personal challenges in a safe environment.
